Wed. 7th February - National Review of Live Art, Glasgow **Opening night** at TRAMWAY

MIRRORS is Jan Kopinski's latest commissioned project combining music and visual imagery in an exciting performance with his new collective outfit, REFLEKTOR, specialising in works linked to projected visuals.
Building on the long collaboration with Steve Iliffe (Pinski Zoo & Reflektor co-founder) and their performances to silent film and video, Jan Kopinski's new compositions are shaped by visual elements, using jazz and improvisation to create a highly personal reflection upon a world of dislocation, memory and transition. The music also explores impressions of folk, religious and contemporary music that so beguiled modern Polish composers. For MIRRORS he has collaborated with video artist Jim Boxall who works with REFLEKTOR to manipulate and weave an intriguing and original experience

· MIRRORS - new compositions by JAN KOPINSKI - shaped by visual elements- highly expressive music - scored and improvised - a densely personal reflection upon a world of disLOCation, memory and transition.

· REFLEKTOR JAZZ-soaked impressions of folk, religious and contemporary music JAN KOPINSKI's halting images of POLAND REVEAL landscapes and frozen edifices of a disturbing past, and cultural collisions that have shaped the land and its history.

· VIDeO artist JIM BOXALL works with REFLEKTOR to manipulate and weave an intriguingLY original MUSICAL & visualexperience.

· commissioned by Opera North Projects to develop MIRRORS- Melanie Pappenheim's voice shimmers through a sextet led by saxophonist Jan Kopinski and Pinski Zoo co-founder pianist Steve Iliffe.

"A dawn to dusk portrait of 1920s Berlin: a cinematic hymn to the excitement and vitality of the city. A classic example of the 'City Symphony'
genre, BERLIN... contains moments of poetry that have seldom been equalled. The lyrical tone is set from the start with the opening shots of a dawn train journey towards the city. With Karl Freund's masterly camerawork and the film's assured editing, BERLIN was hugely successful on its release, and that rarity - a film both popular and avant-garde."
